Chesapeake Green (C-Green) rate is comprised of the costs associated with the generation and transmission sections of your electricity bill. Your utility is still responsible for distributing the power and providing customer service, billing, and maintenance.
Residential electric rates in Maryland and DC have jumped dramatically since rate caps came off in the last few years. Some interesting stats related to residential electric rates compared during summer 2008:
- The average Pepco DC bill has increased more than 36% since 2004.
- The average Pepco MD bill has increased more than 63% since 2004.
- BGE rates have increased around 80% since 2006.
- Pepco MD’s Summer 2008 rates were 6.69% higher than 2007 rates.
- Over long term, rates are up an about 5% annually.
