Real (Green) Community

October seems to be the "_________" awareness month for every kind of awareness one could imagine, including energy awareness.  Here at Clean Currents, we have internally dubbed the month of October as Green Community month because we have so many exciting things happening with area communities, not least of which is the launch of our third Green Neighborhood Challenge (GNEC).

We also were honored this month by Bethesda Magazine and Bethesda Green with a Green Award of Excellence for our innovative approach and involvement with communities across Maryland and Washington, DC.  The most telling part of the award, was the fact that almost all the other award recipients were either Clean Currents customers or involved with us in some way.  Congressional Bank and Bullis School are both wind power customers of ours.  Bullis School was also where Clean Currents completed its first large scale solar PV installation.  Mike Tidwell is the Executive Director of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, one of our chief environmental allies.  And The Friends of Rock Creek are working with us to promote wind power for homes.  The awardees at this year’s Green Awards illustrate what we mean when we say Clean Currents is a community of likeminded businesses, schools, non-profits and people pushing for a greener world.  No other energy company in the area has this sense of green community.

Speaking of green communities, the Green Neighborhood Challenge is in full swing once again, under the leadership of Clean Currents staff member Kristin Schulz.  Clean Currents has enlisted several dozen communities to promote residential wind power as part of a broader message to promote more sustainable lifestyles amongst their group members.  GNEC has more benefits than ever before and exciting new rewards to offer communities that want to get involved.  Whether you are with a faith institution, school, non-profit, or neighborhood association, we’d love to have you join the challenge, which runs through Earth Day 2012.  Just contact us to find out more.

In honor of "Green Community month" and the Green Neighborhood Challenge, we are offering an extremely low rate on our 50% 1-year Neighborhood Wind™ product.  In DC and the BGE territory, this special rate is even LOWER than standard utility rates.  So spread the word and let your friends and neighbors know there’s never been a better time to sign up with Clean Currents wind power for home.  That’s how you build green communities!

I'm like many mothers I know, concerned about the planet our kids will inherit and overwhelmed by daily life. Clean Currents made it simple and affordable to switch to 100% wind power, without breaking my back or the bank.
