Did you know that Americans will spend over $6 BILLION dollars this year on Halloween costumes, decorations, and candy . . . that sum is roughly double the National Institutes of Health's (NIH) annual budget! 

So in the interest of promoting conscious consumerism, below is a list of area businesses that are powered by Clean Currents wind where you can do all of your sustainably ghoulish shopping!

• Visit Strosniders in Bethesda, Potomac, or Silver Spring for your pumpkins and Halloween décor needs.  Family owned since 1953, Strosniders is literally a treasure trove of everything you could need for your home or garden.

• Grosvenor Market, just off Tuckerman Lane in Bethesda is fully stocked with Halloween and fall themed food and table settings.  Why not wash down those Snickers with some local organic milk?
• Bradley Drugs, located in downtown Bethesda is your homebase for trick-or-treat candy.  You can stock up on some Tylenol as well, to handle the constant ringing of your door-bell.

For more “adult” Halloween options:

• Enjoy the peak foliage and some crisp estate bottled pinot gri, by visiting Linganore Winecellars – Berrywine Plantations in Mt. Airy. 
• If you’re in no mood for tricking, treat yourself to a nice dinner at Belga Café in Capitol Hill DC or Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore.  Both restaurants are offering delicious sounding menus and reservations will be easy on Monday night!
• If you can’t get enough pumpkin flavored food, try Michele’s Granola (my personal favorite cereal) – sold at the following Clean Currents wind powered businesses: MOMs Organic Market, Bethesda Co-Op, Quatermaine Coffee Roasters, Peregrine Espresso, Big Bear Café, and Zeke’s Coffee.
