This past Saturday turned out to be a gorgeous day for Green Rush 2012. At around noon, a Repax truck pulled up at Logan Circle to get set up for the Fwd: Your Fashion press conference that concluded the largest clothing drive in DC history and kicked off Green Rush 2012.
By 12:30, Green Rush registration volunteers were manning the tables and welcoming the first trickle of rushers. The Clean Currents team arrived by bike, scooter, metro and foot to help out with the Rush. By 1:30, there was a nice sized crowd gathered in the circle with teams decked out costumes ranging from Wizards of Oz garb, Green Lantern gear, Ninja Turtles, green feathers, the Lorax and more - it was quite a scene.
At 2:30, Steve Ma of Live Green kicked off the Rush with some inspirational thoughts on the mission of Live Green – to help make supporting green businesses affordable and accessible to DC residents. And then the teams were off … first strategizing their approach to the clues and then racing around the city completing challenges at various Live Green spots. Challenges including dumping donated clothes into the Goodwill truck, pizza tasting at Local 16, strutting one the runway at the fashion contest and striking a pose at Tranquil Space yoga studio.

I'm like many mothers I know, concerned about the planet our kids will inherit and overwhelmed by daily life. Clean Currents made it simple and affordable to switch to 100% wind power, without breaking my back or the bank.
