MOM’s Shows its Love for Mother Earth by Reducing its Carbon Footprint with Clean Currents Wind Power and TerraPass Offsets

MOM's, a family owned and operated organic grocer in the DC/Baltimore region has been collecting their customers’ zip codes since 2011 in order to determine the average distance each customer travelled for their shopping outings.  Using this data, MOM's now purchases carbon offsets through TerraPass to offset the emissions from its customers’ shopping trips.  The offset initiative is called TerraPass Your Gas and MOM’s estimates it will be able to offset over 6,000 tons of CO2 per year - the equivalent of eliminating the annual greenhouse gas emissions from 1,067 passenger vehicles.

Since its founding, the grocery chain's mission has been to protect and restore the environment.  The company leads by example, with in-store recycling programs, waste reduction initiatives, and its contract with Clean Currents to power its Maryland locations with 100% wind power.

Clean Currents customers can purchase carbon offsets through TerraPass as an easy way to offset carbon-emitting activities not covered by Clean Currents wind power at home.  By purchasing TerraPass offsets you are funding carbon reduction projects that help to fight global warming and for a limited time TerraPass will send you a Climate Change Chocolate Bar!

Be sure to visit MOM's newest location in Rockville, MD at 5566 Randolph Road.

I'm like many mothers I know, concerned about the planet our kids will inherit and overwhelmed by daily life. Clean Currents made it simple and affordable to switch to 100% wind power, without breaking my back or the bank.
