New Solar Programs Attracting Wider Demographic

Going green at home used to mean having green to spare.  No longer the case, according to a recent Dept. of Energy study.

Analysts at the DOE's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) found that the solar lease and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) business has been surging in neighborhoods that had previously avoided costly customer-owned solar power systems - the only option until recently.

The NREL study found a positive correlation between customers who purchased solar power systems outright and customers living in neighborhoods where the average household income was over $150,000.  For people who entered into third-party solar lease or PPA programs, the positive correlation appeared in neighborhoods where the average household income was just $100,000 - indicating the broader appeal and lower point of access for those interested in zero down solar lease or PPA programs.

The declining cost of solar panels combined with new solar lease or PPA programs like the Clean Currents Solar PPA has effectively made on-site solar power a feasible reality to a much wider audience than in years past.  Rather than having to front thousands of dollars for purchasing a solar power system to only witness investment payback over many years, solar lease or PPA programs offer simple and immediate savings on a customer's monthly electric bill.

In a solar lease/PPA model, the company retains the state and federal incentives, but the customer enjoys the lower total electricity cost.  With certain lease models, including the Clean Currents Solar PPA customers enjoy a fixed (non escalating) price for the electricity produced by their rooftop system, meaning that no matter how much utility electric rates increase, the on-site solar power will remain the same low price for the term of the lease contract, leading to thousands in potential savings.

I'm like many mothers I know, concerned about the planet our kids will inherit and overwhelmed by daily life. Clean Currents made it simple and affordable to switch to 100% wind power, without breaking my back or the bank.
