Clean Currents Makes Gazette P&B53 List

Maryland Based Energy Company Combines Focus on Wind Power with Community Engagement

(Rockville, MD – Aug. 27, 2011) – The Gazette of Politics and Business (P&B) has named Clean Currents to its annual list of exceptional companies. Fifty-three companies and organizations out of hundreds throughout Maryland were chosen as this year’s winners. Companies were judged on three criteria - innovation, community service, and workplace culture.

“Clean Currents has been able to grow its customer base amidst a difficult economic climate thanks to the company’s dedication to community involvement and a commitment to an authentic green brand,” said Gary Skulnik, President and Co-Founder of Clean Currents. “With our customers support, Clean Currents is realizing its mission of increasing demand for clean energy in the Mid-Atlantic.”

The P&B Exceptional 53 recognition further strengthens Clean Currents’ claim of being more than an energy company. Clean Currents is the only energy company in the region that exclusively sells Green-e Energy certified wind power – the most stringent and widely used certification and verification program for renewable energy in the U.S. The company is also a certified B-Corporation and is registered as a Benefit LLC, a legal qualification that incorporates environmental and societal interests into the operational charter of a company.

“We are thrilled to have made the P&B 53 list,” added Skulnik, “but we could not have achieved this without the hard work of our staff and customers.”
