The contest will utilize a unique marketing approach that combines social media with in-person activities to create a synergy between local residents and area businesses that are wind powered by Clean Currents.  Participants of Green Passport DC will earn cash each time they check in to any of the forty-eight participating green destinations through the Facebook “Places” application.  The participating destinations are scattered throughout the city and include popular establishment like Tryst, Logan Tavern, Belga Café, Granville Moore’s, American Ice Co., Meridian Pint, Hudson Trail Outfitters, Open City, and Cakelove.

“Our goal with Green Passport DC is to generate buzz through social media for our business customers, increase support for our nonprofit partners, and further cement Clean Currents’ image as the area’s most innovative green energy company,” said Gary Skulnik, President and Co-Founder of Clean Currents.  “This contest will be a lot of fun for participants and a great way to earn some cash while supporting local, green companies here in DC.  Any area resident can register to play, but of course we encourage everybody to consider switching their home’s electric supply to affordable wind power through Clean Currents.”

Playing Green Passport DC will be simple.  People interested in playing can use their mobile device to scan a QR code found on posters at any of the Green Passport DC destinations or can visit www.greenpassportdc.com to register.  Once registered, players will start earning rewards for each check in to a Green Passport DC destination; for every check in, a player increases their chances at winning the $2,000 grand prize.  Players will also have the option to choose one of four local charities upon registering to receive a matching donation from Clean Currents each time they check in to a Green Passport destination.  The beneficiary charities are Washington Parks and People, Martha’s Table, CentroNia, and Learn-Serve International.

“Green Passport DC is about creating a community of individuals, businesses, and nonprofits working together for a cleaner, greener environment,” added Skulnik.  “Green Passport DC is the best way to celebrate Earth Month in a fun way, while earning prizes and supporting the local community.”

I'm like many mothers I know, concerned about the planet our kids will inherit and overwhelmed by daily life. Clean Currents made it simple and affordable to switch to 100% wind power, without breaking my back or the bank.
