Clean Currents Moves Headquarters to Silver Spring

Green Energy Company Graduates from Montgomery County Business Incubator

(SILVER SPRING, Md, Jun. 28) - Clean Currents completed the relocation of its headquarters today, moving from The Rockville Innovation Center to an expanded office space in Silver Spring.  The new company headquarters are located at 8403 Colesville Road, within the Silver Spring Metro Plaza Center and adjacent to the Silver Spring Metro station.

The move signifies a new chapter in the company history, after six years in The Rockville Innovation Center. Clean Currents started in the business incubator in 2007 with just two fulltime employees, but has since grown to twenty-one fulltime staff members - nineteen in Silver Spring and two in the company’s Baltimore office.  The new office in Silver Spring is significantly larger than the company’s former Rockville space, helping to accommodate recent staff hires and providing further room to grow.

“We were particularly excited to relocate headquarters to Silver Spring,” noted Clean Currents Co-Founder and CEO, Charles Segerman.  “The vibrancy that’s present in the downtown area is energizing and we are happy to stay located in Montgomery County, our home base.”

Silver Spring is already home to several notable environmentally aligned companies and organizations including Discovery Channel’s global headquarters and offices of multiple departments of the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, such as NOAA’s National Weather Service, National Ocean Service, National Marine Fisheries Service, and its Marine and Aviation Operations.

“Deciding on Silver Spring was easy,” said Gary Skulnik, President and Co-founder of Clean Currents.  “We were committed to keep our headquarters in Montgomery County and we’re thrilled to be based in a community that already understands the significance of a cleaner and greener future.”

“Clean Currents’ graduation from The Rockville Innovation Center exemplifies the exact intent of the County’s Business Innovation Network – to help young companies get a footing in the market, foster their growth through shared and support services while in the Network, and then watch them come into their own, grow their company and move into commercial space within the County,” said Montgomery County Department of Economic Development Director Steve Silverman.  “I certainly congratulate Gary and Charles and their team on their success and we look forward to their continued growth from their new headquarters in Silver Spring.”
