Welcome Green Community Leader

Hello GNEC Leaders,

Is your community showing its love for the planet? There are just three months left to help make your community the most wind powered by Earth Day! Here are some messaging ideas to help you spread the word about clean energy within your community groups...

1. Giving up something for Lent? How about giving up dirty power by switching to wind powered electricity at home!

2. Did you know that Clean Currents' rates are at historic lows and can actually save you money over standard utility rates?! Sign-up in February to lock-in a great fixed-rate.

3. You've been thinking about switching to renewable electricity for awhile. Many members of our neighborhood have already made the switch to wind power at home. Start walking the talk today!

Remember - the goal is to get at least 15 households to make the switch by April 22nd 2012. This would be the equivalent of avoiding greenhouse gas emissions from recycling 43 TONS of waste instead of sending it to a landfill! Set a goal of collecting a list of potentially interested community members and then follow up by sending the link to sign-up!

Looking Ahead

Join in on the regular conference calls to share tips and tricks with other leaders and request support from Clean Currents. Don't miss out on the calls at Noon every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month:

Leading Group

As of December 20th: Emmanual United Methodist Church- This group is still in the lead, but just barely- 29th St. Co-Op is in a close second! Effective strategies these groups have used include regular email blasts and community annoucements, creating their own flyers, and having tables of information for community members.

CCAN got involved with the Green Neighborhood Challenge because the only way we are going to solve extreme climate change is by encouraging people to adopt greener lifestyles and getting tougher environmental laws.
